During the burn of a candle, carbon builds up on the wick. If you continue to light the wicks without trimming, the flames will get larger, producing more soot and burning hotter as well as faster. Some wicks produce mushrooming and wick trimmers are a great tool to remove them, ensuring the longevity of your candle!
For this reason we recommend trimming your candle wicks to 1/4" before each burn.
These wick trimmers work for both cotton and wooden wicks.
